Collect, Simulate, Save.

"Collect, Simulate, Save" is the first part of a project that will be developed over the course of my second year.

It arises from an interest towards forms of surveillance and control exercised over internet users (in a desktop based environment), and aims to explore the ways in which individuals output multiple kinds of data whilst accessing different kinds of content through a computer.

The purpose is to investigate the use of those body related functions, movements and their variations, which arise from the user’s actions while he or she is browsing the internet.

Experiment 2: building contact mics & listening to walls

contactmic11.jpg

This experiment was also Grahams idea. I do not claim originality, so that is fine. I went to listen to the walls of the Cross Bones site. I had been thinking about haunting and working with the problem/question “How is the site making itself known to me?”.
The result of this listening was elusive; a soft humming was indeed to be heard, perhaps of air? Perhaps of the spirits whispering?
